There is a push to reinstate child labor permits. It scares me. On many levels. In too many cases, families desperately need the income. And it means children are in harm’s way. It can’t be allowed.
Yes--It's crazy..But not surprising. All the injustices in the American labor market are tied to slavery. The South warned the North that having to pay people (ie: end slavery) would tank the economy. I think all the terribly low wages, horrendous hours, barely any parental leave, prison labor..it's just the slave economy being dragged out for as long as possible, til it all comes crashing down.
